There is no direct MoMo → WeChat Pay rail
MTN Mobile Money moves Ghana Cedis between Ghana wallets. WeChat Pay holds Chinese yuan inside Tencent’s wallet. Those networks do not settle each other when you type a WeChat ID into MoMo, and they do not settle each other when you open WeChat in Accra and look for an MTN button. A screenshot of a friend’s WeChat is not a collection account for Cedis.
RMB Market sits in the middle as an Accra desk: GHS in on an official MTN (or Telecel or bank) account shown on your order, CNY out on the WeChat Pay, Alipay, or NIP QR you saved first. Until Accra confirms the Cedis actually arrived, yuan does not leave. “I Have Made Payment” does not complete the buy.
If someone offers a personal MoMo number in chat “because WeChat is ready”, that is not this product. The official Ghana number stays hidden until the receiving QR is on the order. Paying a different wallet is not recoverable by RMB Market.
What you need before you pay
You need an RMB Market account with a Ghana phone number and verified email. Google and Apple sign-in already count as verified. Email-unverified accounts cannot start a buy. Nigeria-origin customers still settle in GHS on this same Accra desk — there is no Naira rail.
You need a WeChat Pay QR that can accept the RMB amount. A personal code, a merchant code, or a supplier’s code can work if it can receive the payout. A faded printout, a code for a tiny personal limit, or last month’s shop QR can stall fulfillment even if your MoMo debit looks clean. Replace a stale code before GHS is matched — old receiving QR.
You need enough GHS on MTN to send the locked order total in one payment to the official number. Split transfers to extra wallets are not part of this desk. Quote Cedis or yuan on live Accra offers. The published rate locks on the order; this article does not quote it.

QR first, then the official MTN number
Open a live offer. Enter the Cedis you will spend or the yuan the recipient needs. Next, attach WeChat Pay — or Alipay or NIP if that is how they collect. Until that image is stored, the Ghana MTN account does not appear. That gate is the whole anti-scam sequence: you cannot be shown an “official” number before the desk knows where yuan should go.
Why QR first: it unlocks the official GHS details, keeps payment and payout on the same ticket, and stops the common failure where someone pays, then discovers they have no usable China-side code. The same rule is explained in QR first and on payment methods.
After the QR is saved, copy only the MTN number and account name on that order. Send the exact locked GHS. Keep the confirmation SMS. You will upload it as proof of payment.
After you tap “I Have Made Payment”
The button tells Accra you sent Cedis and attaches proof. It moves the order into review. It does not mark Payment Confirmed, does not start RMB by itself, and does not set Completed. Read what I Have Made Payment actually does.
A person at the desk matches the GHS to the official MTN wallet for that order. Amount, reference, and a readable SMS matter. If proof is cropped, the amount is wrong, or you paid a different number, review stalls. Do not send a second MoMo payment to “hurry” the desk.
Only after GHS is confirmed is yuan processed to the WeChat Pay QR already on file. You will see processing, RMB sent, then completed on the transaction timeline after you log in.
Timing: about 30 minutes after confirm
Typical desk time is about 30 minutes after an administrator confirms GHS — not when MoMo shows a debit, and not when you tap the notify button. That figure is a target, not an SLA and not a refund clock. Volume, an unreadable QR, or a destination that cannot accept the amount can take longer. Full clocks: how long a buy takes.
Bank transfer is a different Ghana rail and can sit in review longer because credits post later. If you chose MTN, stay on MTN for that order. Do not mix rails on one ticket.
Common failures
Paying before a QR is saved. The official number is not on the page yet; anything you send “from chat” is off-desk.
Saving a WeChat code that cannot receive the RMB amount, then paying GHS anyway. Replace the QR while the order is still waiting on GHS. After match or confirm, the destination is locked.
Uploading a cropped SMS, a wrong amount, or proof of a transfer to a personal number. Accra matches the official account, not a story.
Treating the notify button as settlement for a supplier. Share status only when the timeline supports it — the bilingual pass is a later record, not a substitute for confirmation.
No QR first — no official MoMo number.
Wrong or old WeChat QR — replace before GHS is matched.
Wrong Ghana wallet — not recoverable here.
